Pullman Sharjah - Luxury hotel - Sustainability

Sustainability

Pullman Sharjah has been recognized for its outstanding commitment to sustainability through the “No to Food Waste” initiative, part of the 1 Million Surplus Meals during Ramadan 2024 campaign. This initiative, led by UAE Food Bank in collaboration with ne’ma and ReLoop, aims to tackle food waste and alleviate hunger in our community.

The hotel is also dedicated to removing single-use plastics from our guest interactions by the end of the year. Some items will remain until we find suitable alternatives, but we are committed to persevering until we meet our objectives.

We have removed endangered fish species such as Hammour, Bluefin Tuna, and Kingfish from our menu. Additionally, our partnership with Reloop enables us to convert food waste into compost, significantly reducing landfill usage and our carbon footprint.

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and preserving the environment. Our dedication is evident through our use of energy-efficient LED bulbs and lights,  significantly decreasing our energy consumption from 332,615 kWh in March to 261,260 kWh in May 2024. Additionally, we contribute to landfill space savings by composting 3048 kg of food waste, resulting in a reduction of 72.02 cubic feet of landfill space and 3048 kg of carbon emissions. Furthermore, our water-saving initiatives have proven successful, with water consumption decreasing from 2052 cubic meters in April to 1993 cubic meters in May.

Thank you for exploring our commitment to a more sustainable and responsible future.
